The Circle by Dave Eggers

This was for the most part an enjoyable read. However, I have two issues with it that stopped me from giving it 4 stars.

1. It didn't go the way I hoped. This may be a silly reason but quite honestly it felt the entire time that it was going to go one direction and then it didn't really seem to go any where. Don't get me wrong. I didn't have a particular direction I thought it would go. I was just expecting more.

2. There was no real climax for me. This, I guess ties in with number one. But the book just builds and builds then when you are thinking "here it comes." It just plateaus and you are left disappointed.

Up until the plateau it was a 4 star read for me. If it had ended in the amazing way I had expected it to, it could have been a 5 star read.

What Got Me Into Reading

I am getting ready to watch the Goosebumps movie and that got me thinking about what got me into reading in the first place. So, I thought I would do a quick post about it. I'm in my 30s so details may be a little fuzzy. As memory is the first to go. 😉

I remember enjoying Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys and such in my younger years. But I really credit Goosebumps for my love of reading. I can remember staying up late reading. I would then be a tad afraid of the dark and stay up even later. The next day at school would be horrible I was so tired. But I would do it all over again the next night.

From those I moved on to books by Dean Koontz and Stephen King. And then some where in my late teens I lost my love of reading. It sort of just left me. It wasn't until my mid to late 20s that I found reading again. There were some things I read during that massive "slump" but nothing on a regular basis.

It was actually my niece who got me into reading again and for that I am thankful. She convinced me to read this book Twilight. Maybe some of you have heard of it. 😆 This started my love of young adult. I've read on a regular basis since that book.

A few years ago I discovered Booktube. Which is the greatest thing ever. I watch my favorites every week and I am now never without a book. I think I have approximately 250 books waiting to be read. These are not all physical books. Most are on Kindle or Nook. I have all different genres available at all times.

What books got you all into reading?

Thanks for reading!
