The Martian by Andy Weir

The Martian by Andy Wier

This was a wonderful book! I actually listened to it on Audible and the narrator did such a great job! I would highly recommend the audio book of this. I'm pretty glad that I already know that Matt Damon is going to play Mark Watney. While listening to the audio book I was able to picture him doing what Watney does. My husband actually listened to this book months ago and pictured someone else playing Watney. He is highly disappointed about Matt Damon being Watney in the movie.

I have read a few reviews that didn't really like all the detail in the book. But I really don't agree with them, maybe because I listened to it and just couldn't skip over those few pages. I really liked that those details. When they would say here is the problem and then this is exactly how I am going to fix the problem.

Some have said that they didn't like the NASA parts of the book. Again, I don't fully agree with it. They were definitely not as exciting as what was happening on Mars with Watney. But they told us in great detail what was happening on Earth and what the people at NASA were going through.

The one thing I really didn't like about the book was the ending. I can't really say too much about it but it just felt so unfinished. There is all of this excitement at the end and then it is just done. I would have loved a little bit more to it.

Overall, I would give this book 4.25 out of 5 stars. I strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good sci-fi. I cannot wait to go see the movie! I really hope that the movie is as good as the book. Of course I really hoped Mortal Instruments would be as good as the book and look how that turned out.

Thanks for reading!
