Trouble Picking a Book

There are so many books that I want to read, that sometimes I have some serious trouble picking a book. Sometimes there is no issue with this. I just walk to my shelves and know what it is that I am looking for. Today is one of those days. So, I decided to try something new. I was not really successful in this.

I decided this morning to write out a list of books that I really want to read and make a new TBR jar. At the beginning of the year I made a jar similar to Katytastic's jar. Something with just challenges to read. I agree with her that sometimes you are just not in the mood to read a certain type of book. So, if you just have challenges, then you leave it open to pick a book you like. Whether it be fantasy or contemporary. I don't limit myself to one genre so this is helpful.

So, I wrote out a list of all the books currently on my shelves that I have been dying to read. This is of course pretty much all of them. But I was able to leave some off, that maybe I only have a slight interest in. At least, right now they are not high on my list. I ended up with about the notebook pages full of books. I then took the time to cut them all out, fold them and add them to the jar.

I found myself picking book after book. I couldn't go with just the first one I picked. I tried going to get a fresh cup of coffee and then coming back to pick again. This time I was going to stick to it. Whatever I picked that was the book I was going to read. That didn't happen, I again picked paper after paper and set that book aside. Finally, I went to my six year old daughter and had her pick one. This time I stuck to it. So, I am currently going to read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black.

This is a book that I have had for probably at least a year now. I read The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black earlier this year. I enjoyed it very much. Why Coldtown has sat here for so long, I couldn't tell you. Obviously, I want to read all these books or I would not have bought them. Right??

Have any of you ever had this problem? So many books you are dying to read but you just can't pick one to read right then. If there was a way to read them all at once I would totally do it.

Do any of you have a TBR jar? And how did you make yours? Is it just the list of books you own and want to read? Or is it something more along the lines of Katytastic's? I think for next year I will combined the two. I will not limit myself to only pulling something once a month either. Every time I find myself having trouble finding something I want to read I will pull something from the jar.

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks for reading!
